From the supplier: An Arthur Andersen study for the National Association of Wholesalers reveals that two-thirds of all sales representatives will be telemarketers by 2000. The future of the telemarketing industry will be characterized by: great growth; a shortage of qualified people; more university-level direct marketing education programs; and higher management salaries. There will be tighter legislative constraints against cold calling of prospects which will lead towards calling people with either a relationship to a vendor or those requesting a follow-up call in response to direct mail, print, and broadcast advertisements. Telefocus marketing, using video tape brochures that synthesizes telemarketing, direct mail and video brochures, will eclipse stand-alone telemarketing in the future.
